Dance of Awareness: Weekend Urban Retreat
10-12th April 2026 at Yama Studios, Glasgow
Do you love the freedom of the dance floor? If you’ve ever stepped onto a conscious dance floor, joined an ecstatic dance circle, or simply found peace in movement, you know that the body has its own intelligence. This weekend, we invite you to dive deeper into that wisdom through Open Floor Movement Practice.
What is Open Floor? While it shares the same "meditation in motion" roots as other conscious dance forms, Open Floor is an inquiry-based practice. We use universal movement resources—such as Grounding, Centering, and Pausing—to help us navigate both the dance floor and our daily lives.
There are no steps to learn and no way to do it wrong. It is a lively, sweaty, and soulful exploration of what it means to be fully human.
What to expect?
A Welcoming Space: Whether you are a seasoned "conscious dancer" or have never tried movement meditation before, this retreat is designed for all bodies and abilities.
Dynamic Landscapes: Move through a curated journey of music ranging from deep ambient beats to high-energy rhythms.
Connection: Opportunities to explore solo movement, as well as connection with others
Stillness: Guided periods of meditation to settle the nervous system and integrate the dance.
Why join us in Glasgow? Set in the heart of our vibrant city, this retreat offers a sanctuary from the urban hustle in a beautiful conscious dance studio. It’s a chance to:
Deepen qualities of presence and aliveness through dance and stillness
Learn simple meditation practices to integrate into daily life
Connect with a like-minded community of movers
Be nourished by delicious vegetarian/vegan food
"Open Floor isn't about how the dance looks; it's about how the dance feels and what it teaches us about being alive."
